Actor, Author, Producer and Emmy Award Winning TV Host, Ricki Lake will keynote Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services’ (JFS) Annual “Reflections of Hope” Luncheon. This compelling program was created in an effort to break the stigma associated with mental illness, a critical issue affecting one in four adults. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit JFS’ Counseling & Mental Health Services, including the Welcome Home Program.
The world first met Ricki Lake in 1988 as Tracy Turnblad in John Waters’ film Hairspray. At the age of 24, Lake became one of the youngest daily talk show hosts in history with the debut of The Ricki Lake Show. After 11 successful seasons, the show wrapped in 2005 but returned in 2012, garnering Lake the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Ricki Lake is speaking for the first time on the loss of her ex-husband and his fight with mental illness.
