Bob Hanni's All Star Jazz Ensemble, headed by jazz guitarist Bob Hanni, featuring Jewish musicians Ed Polokoff (piano) and Lenny Steinberg (percussion) will be performing jazz standards on Father's Day, June 16 at 3 p.m. at the Weisman Community Center in Delray Beach. Tickets for the concert are $5.

"The tickets are being offered at a deep discount to showcase the Weisman Center as a project of the Ruth Rales Jewish Family Services in Palm Beach County. I love playing to audiences who will see this beautiful center and enjoy the music from 1930-1950 as much as the band enjoys playing these songs," said Polokoff, who will act as master of ceremonies at the concert featuring the six member band, and who personally underwrote the expenses for the program.

The Weisman Center was opened in 2011 by JFS to serve residents of Palm Beach County 55 and older.

"I love helping to support the needs of seniors and the arts. The Weisman Center is a very important resource in our community and I hope that many more programs will take place there," added Polokoff.

Among the jazz standards featured in the 90 minute concert will be songs by Duke Ellington ("Take The A Train"), George Gershwin ("Our Love Is Here To Stay"), Cole Porter ("Night And Day") and Polokoff's self-written song titled "While I Long For You."

Born and raised in Buffalo, Polokoff is especially proud of working in music since 1960 while earning a living as a financial planner. While honing his skills as a pianist, he also was a philanthropist in the arts, raising funds for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra from 1970-90.

"I wanted to give back to the music community and appreciated all the support in Buffalo for the Philharmonic Orchestra. I took great pride that our conductor Michael Tilson Thomas is Jewish and featured Jewish compositions as part of our programming," added Polokoff.

Steinberg has been playing drums and other percussion instruments since he was in elementary school in the 1960s. Born and raised in Miami, Steinberg honed his musical skills at the University of Miami. He toured extensively throughout the country and Japan when he was with the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1996 and spent four years touring with several U.S. Air Force bands. Steinberg has been a member of South Florida's Gold Coast Jazz Society for ten years.

"I am proud of all I have done in music and look forward to playing with the Bob Hanni jazz band," said Steinberg.

Polokoff and Steinberg will be featured at the Bob Hanni All Star Jazz Band Father's Day concert June 16 at 3 p.m. at Weisman Community Center, 7091 West Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach. Tickets are $5. For more information, call 561-558-2100 or go to http://www.ruthralesjfs.org.
