Dear Friends:
Never in my dreams could I have imagined that I would be writing to you in the middle of a worldwide pandemic that has turned everything as we know it on its head. Thankfully, with your support, Rales JFS was able to quickly pivot our services remotely so that not one day has gone by that we were not available to answer a call for help from our community. Since March, we have distributed nearly $200,000.00 in financial assistance to people directly affected by COVID-19; increased by 41% the number of food insecure older adults and Holocaust Survivors who now receive weekly deliveries of prepared meals from the Adele Loeb and Les Nackman Meals on Wheels Program; and absorbed 20 new households in the Jacobson Family Food Pantry. We have had tremendous participation in our on-line workshops and support groups provided by our career and employment services and the JFS outreach team; and when we needed to deliver food to our homebound clients, over one hundred volunteers stepped forward to help.
This year at our annual gala, we will be recognizing our own front line workers, the staff of JFS who are there on the ground every day, managing the challenging times and supporting our community at their most vulnerable points. Please read about what our plans are for this year’s virtual Gala, and all our fundraising events this season on page 5. We need your support more than ever so we can continue to provide the necessary resources to our community when most needed. Thank you so much!
