Caregiver Support
Taking care of individuals with dementia and other chronic conditions can be challenging. Rales JFS offers caregiver education, support and well-deserved respite to help sustain them. Educational topics include home safety, community resources, and strategies in dealing with difficult emotions. Support sessions are currently being offered online four times per week. Our program is free of charge thanks to program funding from the Area Agency on Aging the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

Holocaust Survivor Assistance
Social services for Jewish Nazi victims have been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
The Holocaust Survivor Assistance Program helps provide for the needs of those who survived the brutality and persecution carried out by the Nazis and their collaborators during World War 2.
The program provides personalized case management and service coordination for vital services necessary to maintain maximum independence in a safe home environment. JFS has also assists the Survivors in our community with Holocaust reparations and financial assistance.
Emergency financial assistance funding is provided by KAVOD SHEF in partnership with Seed the Dream Foundation and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Holocaust Survivor Emergency Assistance Fund.
Supplemental Services
As seniors grow older, their day-to-day needs increase. Chores that used to be simple for them to perform can often be quite challenging. Rales JFS, and its dedicated team of volunteers, are committed to getting seniors the help they need to remain at home safely and independently.

Shop & Share
Volunteers grocery shop for clients who are no longer willing or able to shop for themselves. Volunteers receive the grocery list from the client over the phone in advance. They are reimbursed for items purchased by personal check upon delivery, where they help put the groceries away and spend time socializing. Volunteers and their clients determine the schedule and frequency of the trips. We recommend 2 shopping trips per month.
Technology SOS
Supporting Our Seniors – Volunteers assist seniors who are not comfortable with technology, helping them use their cell phones, tablets or computers in their homes. Volunteers and their clients determine the schedule and frequency of the visits as needed.
Telephone Reassurance
Volunteer as a special phone friend to homebound seniors by making calls 2-3 times a week. Call times and frequency can be determined between the volunteer and the client.
Shirley & Barton Weisman Delray Community Center
The late Barton Weisman and his wife, Shirley, wanted to create a special place where local seniors, including Holocaust survivors in the community could come together to enrich and improve their lives. Thus, in 2010, the state-of-the-art Weisman Delray Community Center was opened at 7091 W. Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. This 12,000 square foot facility provides a wide array of social, educational, and wellness activities for seniors age 60 and older. The Center provides diverse programs, offering something for everyone. As a busy hub of activity, our members love to say that the Weisman Center is their “Home away from home.”
Come visit our bright, cheery center where minds and bodies stay active and friendships are made. Be sure to ask about a tour of the center and the registration process. Life after 60 has never been so good!
