Great Options For Afterschool Activities, Community Partner Sponsors A Successful Backpack Drive, Donor of the Month and More!

Back to school is an exciting time of the year, filled with the prospect

of new beginnings. While many children look forward to returning to

the classroom, numerous others struggle to navigate this change. As

we enter this time of year, it’s important to recognize the signs and

symptoms of anxiety to help your child maneuver through these shifts.

“Changes in behavior and emotionality are common indicators,” explains Elizabeth Moulton, Rales JFS testing psychologist. “Children experiencing anxiety also tend to display physical symptoms and difficulties with interpersonal relationships."

From Golf Greens to New Beginnings: Morris' Pleasant Journey to the Weisman Center

Morris never planned on joining an organization in retirement—he was set on playing golf, as he had since he was 14. But after a few falls, his balance made it too risky, and he had to give it up. Feeling uncertain about what to do next, his wife, Toby, convinced him to visit the Weisman Center. Morris was hesitant, but the moment he walked through the doors, he was amazed. He'd never seen anything like it in Memphis, where they used to live. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and the variety of classes impressed him immediately.

After just two months as a member, Morris confidently says joining the Weisman Center was one of the best decisions he’s made since moving to Florida. The modest enrollment fee, friendly members, exceptional classes, and attentive staff all exceeded his expectations. The free bus service, especially useful for someone with a walker, and the reasonably priced kosher café were just the icing on the cake.

Morris is grateful Toby, now the Chevra Hadassah co-president, convinced him to visit. Morris signed up on the spot, knowing it was the right place for him.
