Senior Services

Mary is an 85 year old frail elderly woman from Boca Raton. She is also a Holocaust survivor and a cancer survivor. Because of her recent cancer surgery, Mary has many medical needs. JFS provides her with part time home care three days per week. The aide provides her with transportation to medical appointments, bathing assistance, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping and shopping. Without help from JFS, she would be at high risk of being institutionalized.
Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (JFS) is committed to the concept of "aging in place" by enabling older individuals to maintain independent lives in the community for as long as possible.

Geriatric Assessment service:
Family members who struggle to care for an elder relative long distance are finding themselves at a unique disadvantage. They are not there to see firsthand what is happening and this hampers effective decision making. Locally, family members may need assistance in making decisions regarding the ability of their loved ones to live alone.
A comprehensive assessment by a well-trained, objective professional can help you develop a plan of action that keeps your loved one as safe, secure and independent as possible. Our professionally trained geriatric care manager will evaluate current strengths and weaknesses through an examination of your loved ones health status, functional abilities, general living situation, cognitive and emotional well-being, socialization and utilization of community services.
An individual Care Plan will be developed based on identified needs and will include but not be limited to medical care coordination, community referrals for home health aides, companions, transportation, counseling, meals and other social services.
The goal of our assessment is to help seniors maintain an independent and active life while helping to relieve family member's anxieties.Holocaust Survivor Assistance:
Holocaust Survivor Assistance helps provide for the needs of Holocaust survivors, focusing on maintaining a safe environment, including socialization, and assisting with medical and nutritional needs. JFS has assisted hundreds of elderly survivors in our community with Holocaust Reparations and Claims Conference Funds.
"My father is a Holocaust Survivor, residing in Century Village. My mother passed away in July 2004. Since your case manager has become my father's social worker, she has been such a tremendous resource of comfort for me and my family. She has gone beyond the typical social services - she is just a gift to me and my family. She is truly a compassionate and caring woman and I am so grateful she is in my Father's life. Because of the distance, there is great stress on me in making sure he is OK and his needs are being met. She has always been there for my Dad." - HH, Yardley, PA
