Rales JFS Goes Pink for
Breast Cancer Awareness
Thank you for going PINK with Rales JFS! On October 28, our staff and community members proudly wore pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month—standing with Sharsheret, an incredible organization that empowers Jewish women and families impacted by breast and ovarian cancer through education, support, and community connection.
Together, we raised awareness, shared hope, and reminded our community that no one faces cancer alone.
If you or someone you love is navigating the cancer journey, our Breast & Ovarian Cancer Support Group is here to help. Facilitated by Andrea Pittell, LCSW, the group meets the first Tuesday of every month and provides a safe, compassionate space to connect and heal.

Inclusion in Action: Dara Shines as a Cooperman Center Volunteer
When you enter the Cooperman Center—at least three days a week—you’re likely to be greeted by Dara, a very special front desk volunteer.
Dara has been volunteering at the front desk for a year, welcoming parents and children, answering questions, and supporting the office staff. She’s 22 years old, and at just 18 months, she was diagnosed with a speech disorder. But Dara hasn’t let that hold her back in any way.
Volunteering at the Cooperman Center has helped her grow in many ways—boosting her confidence, improving her ability to follow directions, and giving her a strong sense of purpose. She knew this would be the right place for her, having spent time with speech therapists and feeling comfortable on campus.
Dara shared, “Being different isn’t bad—it’s special. We just need a little help sometimes. We can do great things if people give us a chance.” She also wants others to know: if you’re thinking about volunteering but feel nervous, go for it!
The staff at the Cooperman Center love having Dara as a consistent and valued volunteer.

Our Community Comes Together to Collect More Than 5,000 Pounds for the Jacobson Family Food Pantry
The numbers are in, and we are just blown away by how this community came through for their neighbors in need.
Each year, several local synagogues and preschools collect food donations for the Jacobson Family Food Pantry. With just donation boxes and a few flyers, these community partners managed to collect a total of 5,095 pounds of non-perishable food.
These donations will go a long way in alleviating food insecurity and ensuring that no one goes hungry. Rales JFS truly appreciates the efforts of everyone who donated during the High Holidays.
If you would like to host a food drive or make a donation to the Jacobson Family Food Pantry, please call (561) 852-3333 or visit ralesjfs.org/donate. An Amazon Wish List is available if you would like to purchase an item and have it shipped directly to the pantry.
