Meet Michal

JFS DV (Domestic Violence) department

JFS Domestic Abuse Education & Action Department offers a holistic approach towards ending domestic violence through case management, education and crisis counseling.

When Michal contacted the JFS DV (Domestic Violence) department she had been in a severe automobile accident. Both of her legs and one of her arms were in casts. She was not able to work, and had no support system in place.

Unrelated to the accident, the reason she was first referred to the DV department, was because her 14-year-old daughter had attempted to kill Michal. Her daughter has now been admitted to an inpatient treatment center and Michal is attempting to make sense of this very difficult situation. JFS has provided safety planning, suicide assessment, and crises counseling. Michal received Walmart gift cards for her immediate needs and was set up with deliveries from the Jacobson Food Pantry. JFS Financial Assistance provided rental assistance for two months. Domestic Abuse Education & Action provided Michal with comprehensive care regarding her daughter’s case and her own medical needs.
