Interviewing Skills Workshop
Networking and your new resume got you in the door. Now you have to sell yourself effectively. Learn job interview tips including how to prepare for an interview and convince an employer that you are the best fit for the job. Remember, the candidate who receives the job offer is not necessarily the only one who is the best qualified. That candidate simply knows the most about how to get hired!
Computer Training Classes
Don’t let your lack of computer skills be a barrier to gaining employment! Based on numerous requests, we are pleased to NOW offer computer training classes. Classes will cover topics ranging from computing for beginners to Microsoft Word and Excel. (Other programs may be added to the curriculum if there is a need.) Each class will review what was taught in the previous class and candidates will have an opportunity to ask individual questions. Candidates should bring their own USB flash memory drive. Candidates may also bring their own laptops to work on.
Open Computer Lab Time
Is having access to a computer stopping you from completing your resume? Do you have questions regarding your online presence? Perhaps you need help navigating employment websites or completing online applications. At CES, we understand your challenges and now have weekly open computer lab time available. Volunteers and career strategists will be on hand to help you and answer any questions that you may have. Candidates should bring their own USB flash memory drive. Remember space is limited, so please sign-up beforehand.
Social Networking Workshop
The digital world is here to stay and your online presence matters…especially to potential employers. Discover how to present yourself online (and how not to). Gain an understanding of how to utilize LinkedIn to effectively network and develop professional relationships. Learn to make Facebook and Twitter reinforce your personal brand.
Meet with your fellow job candidates who are having career and employment experiences similar to yours. Discuss strategies, practice your elevator speech, and receive feedback. This group will meet twice a week with the Monday morning meeting serving as an opportunity for job candidates to gear up for their upcoming week of job searching.
